Have you ever seen such a magnificent guitar?
When I saw this piece of art hanging in the music room
of Des and Bobby’s home I could not resist photographing it!
It was made as a wedding gift from a best friend, Meg, to Des and Bobby, and the story below is related by Des herself.
It is made with glass mosaic,a special type of resin, and lots of other surprising and lovely bits of memories
and Meg has also worked in the name of Bobby’s band “Tall Order”with pewter, on the right hand side next to the sound hole.
As Des says;
“Being an only child, Megan, who now lives in Mocambique, is and was both my best friend and my sister and it feels as if we have known each for ever.
Way back then she already showed her incredible talent and creativity in everything she did.
Meg had long given up thinking that I would ever remarry (I had too) when I met Bobby but it was clear from an early stage that I had at last found my soul mate – someone to share everything with.
A match made in heaven it could be said – I love music, he plays it, we both love road trips and can set off on one at the drop of a hat. We fit like a perfect leather glove fits the hand it was made for.
When we suddenly got married, Meg was ready to come to Cape Town from Mozambique at a moments notice, but as much as I wanted it I couldn’t expect that of her.
When she came to visit a few months after our wedding she brought with her a gift that only Meg would have thought of and only she could have done so perfectly.
This beautiful piece of art now adorns our ‘music room’ and delights all who see it.”
Says Des “Megs, you are such a best friend, words can’t say it!
We love you and miss you but think of you every time we look at this wonderful gift of love made with the joy that says it all!
the name of Bobby’s band: “Tall Order”

Meg has left an indelible stamp in both Des’ and my life, strongly augmented by this very special wedding gift. Thank you Frenske for capturing it’s essence and beauty so effectively.

Beautifully captured Frenske, and well done on presenting it so interestingly too. Can almost hear music when looking at it…. 🙂
